World College Poker Championship Main Event Coming This Summer to, Registration Now Open

School might be out for the summer. But college students from around the world will be gathering together around tables, anyway — not for classes, but for poker!

World College Poker (WCP) has partnered with to present the free-to-play 2021 World College Poker Championship Main Event happening this summer on

The Championship will be open to college students aged 18 and over. Players will need to have a valid student ID and be currently enrolled at college, university, or vocational school in order to register.

As noted, this will truly be a worldwide competition, with players initially divided into six global regions.

(Note: players from Spain, Italy, Portugal, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New Jersey cannot participate in the WCP events on, per local regulations.)

The tournament itself will consist of four rounds, starting with the first one on Saturday, July 24.

  • Round One (July 24) — Players around the globe will compete in a first-round tournament exclusive to their region. Players will play down to 50 players in each of the six regions, with those 300 players advancing.
  • Round Two (July 31) — The qualifiers will play against each other in a second-round tournament, this time playing down to 45 players. Those 45 will carry their chip stacks to the next round.
  • Round Three (August 7) — The 45 remaining will play down to a final table of six players.
  • Round Four, Final Table (TBA) — The final six will play down to a 2021 World College Poker Main Event Champion. The final table will either be live (restrictions permitting) or online. More details regarding when and where the final table will play out will be announced later.

A number of prizes will go to the top finishers in the tournament.

The winner will receive a list of prizes, topped by a PokerStars European Poker Tour package worth approximately €8,000 and an engraved PokerStars trophy. The champ will win additional gear, subscriptions, and packages provided by the event’s many corporate sponsors. Also, the winner will at some point battle high-stakes superstar Patrik Antonius in a heads-up match.

The runner-up will receive a three-day trip to Las Vegas for a live poker training session with poker pro Matt Berkey‘s Solve for Why Academy, a one-hour lesson with poker pro Jonathan Little of, along with other packages and gear.

Meanwhile each of the six final tablists will receive a custom gaming chair, free memberships to Solve for Why (12 months) and (6 months), along with other awards.

Various prizes continue on down through the top 20 finishers, with the top 45 all getting PokerStars swag bags. There are some “Last Woman Standing” prizes as well.
