Daniel Negreanu was having loads of fun at the feature table of the 2012 World Series of Poker. He joked with the audience. He did some light stretching and put his butt in the air to the delight of the women in the crowd. Between hands, he took time to run to the rail and sign autographs. He even posed for pictures. He seemed to be having the time of his life. Despite rarely having a huge stack in the tournament, the tenacious Kid Poker clung on and played what he believed to be his A game. Today marked the day the cards stopped cooperating. Just before the dinner break tonight, Negreanu busted out of the Main Event in 160th place.
After losing what he deemed a key pot with pocket fours versus pocket deuces (the deuce came on the turn), the rest of his chips went in against actor Kevin Pollak. Negreanu held king-queen. Pollak had ace-queen. Negreanu didn’t improve and was forced to hit the rail.
This marks the end of Negreanu’s WSOP. He picked up $52,718 for his finish. He’ll add that to the $70,749 he won in the prelims.
“It was a good run,” he said of his Main Event performance. “Time for some for some R & R.”
