Think you have what it takes to travel the world and beat the biggest names in poker for a share of $1,000,000 on TV? The PokerStars Shark Cage is back for a 2nd season and this is your shot at making it happen! It’s the TV show where poker legends from around the world and Team PokerStars Pros compete in televised heats for a place in the final. There are seats open for PokerStars players, and you can claim yours with qualifier tournaments running now. Are you ready to enter the Shark Cage? It’s time to find out.
How to make it to the PokerStars Shark Cage
The TV show includes six heats per season; all filmed at European Poker Tour (EPT) events. Each heat will see five top pros and one online qualifier play for a seat in the final, held in Monaco, where they will play for their share of the $1,000,000 prize pool.
The final three heats take place as part of the EPT 11 Grand Final. This means there’s room for three online qualifiers, with not just a seat in the heats on offer, but also a trip to Monaco, including return flights for two, double room at the Le Meridien hotel and €500 credited to your PokerStars account for expenses!
Online qualifier tournaments take place daily at 12:05, 14:05 & 16:05 ET from February 16-March 1, and you can only enter these qualifiers using a ticket. See below for how to secure your tickets. In addition to an added prize pool of $1,000, the top 20 finishers in each ticket qualifier will advance to the casting stage to audition for the TV show (see below).
There will also be one free to play qualifier daily at 13:05 ET from February 16-March 1. In the free-to-play qualifier, the top three finishers will advance to the casting stage to audition for the TV show (see below).
How to secure your ticket for the qualifier tournaments
Deposit $30 (€23/£18) or more, before 16:00 ET on March 1, using bonus code ‘SHARKEPT’ for 10 free tickets, which can be used to enter any of the Shark Cage qualifier tournaments with a $1,000 added prize pool.
Please Note: All Shark Cage qualifying tickets are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash. Offer only valid once per player, which means that one player can claim a maximum of 10 tickets. Unused tickets and tickets claimed after any of the qualifying tournaments have been played will be forfeited.
Make it to the casting stage and you’ll be invited to send us a video audition. We want to know all about you, so tell us your story, especially your life outside of poker, in two minutes. Grab our attention by making sure you inject plenty of personality, humor and enthusiasm!
Note that all videos submitted must be in English and not be longer than two minutes. Simply upload to YouTube and email the link to email@example.com by no later than 23:59 ET, March 8.
Please Note: Any video using copyrighted material without permission will not be considered.
PokerStars will review all video submissions and shortlist the best ones. If you are shortlisted, you will be contacted by phone for further interviews. Unfortunately, we cannot respond to every entry, but we thank you for taking the time to make a video and enter the competition. After the phone interviews have been completed, we will select three winners and they will then be publically announced on this page on April 10. The heats are being filmed between April 30-May 2 at the EPT 11 Grand Final and winners should be available to travel any six days between April 28-May 3.
See the Terms & Conditions page for more information.
More about the PokerStars Shark Cage
Heats for season 2 will be filmed at EPT events in The Bahamas and Monaco with the final also in Monaco. A full line-up of poker superstars will be taking part, with plenty of trash-talk and exciting action along the way. The show has an innovative format including never-before-seen features, such as:
‘Play against the clock’: Each player only has 30 seconds to act on each street, ensuring plenty of fast and exciting play.
‘Don’t get bluffed’: If a player pulls off a bluff on the river, the loser gets sent to the Shark Cage to miss an orbit. The bluffer meanwhile gets a cash bonus. If the bluff gets called, the bluffer will go to the cage, and the player who called will get the bonus.
