Leo Margets

Leo Margets

Born and raised in Barcelona, Leo Margets is one of Spain’s most successful poker players. With an impressive list of tournament wins and final table appearances, earned at the biggest events around the world, Leo’s come a long way since being taught poker by her boyfriend in 2007. It’s a journey that has seen her rise from hard-working amateur to one of the top female players in poker.

Leo’s first major result came at the most prestigious live event of them all. In 2009, she finished in the top 30 at the World Series of Poker* Main Event, cashing for $352,832. It was a result that brought Leo within touching distance of poker’s biggest prize, and gave her the confidence needed to take her game to the next level. Her success started a run of good results in local events across Spain, including a win in a special invitational tournament at the Full Tilt Masters Series in Lloret de Mar, plus a final table finish in a side event at the 2010 Aussie Millions.

Since then there have been several in-the-money finishes on the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT), with highlights that include a top 40 finish at the Barcelona leg in 2011, and a 57th place finish at the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino EPT Grand Final in 2012. Leo also won the €1,000 Ladies Event at the same festival, defeating Team PokerStars Pro Victoria Coren heads-up,

Leo’s talents aren’t just confined to poker either. She studied Business in London, and later completed a Masters in Managing Communication back home in Spain. She is also an accomplished long-distance runner, competing regularly in marathons. Sport is something Leo describes as ‘mind therapy’ that can help her poker game, and she hopes one day to compete in an Ironman. Leo is also an aspiring writer with a full novel to her name. It’s a personal project that she’s yet to unleash on the world, but one day hopes to have it published.

Leo Margets is a member of Team PokerStars Pro and you can find her playing online under the screen name ‘L. Margets’.
