Pier Paolo Fabretti
A keen games player and strategist thanks to his interest in Magic: The Gathering, Pier Paolo Fabretti is a successful online poker pro looking to make the big step to the live global circuit. The young Italian first was introduced to Texas Hold’em by American players at one of the international Magic tournaments he used to play in. There are big similarities between the two games, and in 2005 he began his poker journey, playing heads-up for $5 on PokerStars.
Since then Pier Paolo has had more success online than live. In January 2008 he finished in fifth place in the Sunday Million, which was good for $45,120 and weeks later in February he won the Nightly Hundred Grand, scooping $27,137 in first place prize money. He’s also qualified via PokerStars for live tournaments all over the world, including four European Poker Tour tournaments, the Asia Pacific Poker Tour event in Sydney, and the World Series of Poker* Main Event. A big cash in a live event is one of Pier Paolo’s major goals, and with the arrival of the Italian Poker Tour and live poker thriving in his own country, that breakthrough win is only a matter of time away.
When he’s not playing poker Pier Paolo enjoys all of the things other young people his age enjoy. He’s a keen traveller, and loves seeing new places and cultures and meeting people. He also loves movies, theatre and literature, and he’s has been a judo enthusiast since childhood. He sees joining Team PokerStars Pro as a turning point in his poker career. It’s a huge honor to join the team, he hopes to be a role model for other players, and also sees it as a big chance to show his worth. Pier Paolo Fabretti is a member of Team PokerStars Pro and plays online using the screen name ‘P.Fabretti’.
