For some players, joining Team PokerStars Pro is the ultimate recognition of their poker abilities and success at the tables. For others, like China’s Yaxi Zhu, it’s about more than that. Wearing the PokerStars patch gives Yaxi a chance to educate her countrymen about the charms of poker, fine-tune her decisions on and off the tables, and hopefully one day achieve her full potential as a poker player.
Yaxi’s background in finance and business management, coupled with a past career at a consulting firm, introduced her to a number of deep-thinkers and keen poker players. It was through these colleagues and friends that she discovered Texas Hold’em while living in Shanghai. Almost instantly she excelled at picking up signals from her competitors, analysing the game, and handling the pressures of poker, so much so that she achieved a fourth place finish in her first-ever live tournament.
Since then, Yaxi has gone on to record a number of notable cashes - including an EPT side event win (EPT 11 Prague for $147,980) - as well as putting in a healthy volume of online MTTs, 6-Max cash games and Heads-Up Sit & Go’s on PokerStars.
Yaxi’s past has seen her shine at the pool table, outperform her rivals in online computer games, such as DotA, and she is honoured to be part of the Team PokerStars Pro collective. Make sure you join her at the tables.
