From festive cheer to poker brilliance, EPT Prague brings out the best in everyone. But this past week, Bulgaria’s Yulian Bogdanov has pushed beyond mere brilliance. He’s now behind a red velvet rope in a space reserved for legends.
Over four days of play, the 38-year-old worked his way through the massive 3,024-entrant €1,650 PokerStars Open Prague 2025 Main Event, banking €398,135 after a three-way deal with Adrian Ziemichod and Ivan Poroliev.
Impressive enough, but even more so when you factor in that just earlier this festival, Bogdanov had already taken down the €10,200 Mystery Bounty for €147,000.
“I’m so excited for this trophy. It’s amazing. I can’t believe that it’s true. I’m very happy,” Bogdanov told PokerNews in a post-win interview.
Bogdanov topped a 27-entry field in the Mystery Bounty earlier this festival
Twelve players returned for the final day of play, with Bogdanov sitting third in chips. He got off to a bad start, losing a big chunk of chips in a coinflip against Ziemichod. But he recovered well–not surprising when you consider he’s ranked 10th on the all-time money list in a country as competitive as Bulgaria.
With three players remaining, Ziemichod held the covering stack but opted to agree on a deal with Bogdanov and Poroliev, with each of the three players securing more than the original second-place prize.
Adrian Ziemichod finished second but banked the biggest prize
An additional €10,000 was left up for grabs, in addition to the prestigious title and the Shard. Bogdanov went on to eliminate both of the opponents, emerging as the victor and the first player to win two tournaments at EPT Prague 2025.
“This is my biggest trophy. I’m very thankful, because I’ve learned a lot. I play a lot, and that’s a gift for me,” the champion concluded.
