Mythical Adventure with The Sword & The Grail

October 23, 2023

When it comes to knights of the realm and magical wizardry, there are plenty of gamers whose thoughts turn immediately to figures such as Sir Lancelot, King Arthur, and Merlin. However, all that stirring of potions and lugging around heavy armour is not necessary to reimagine those famous old myths. That is probably also because there are plenty of modern-day entertainment streams out there doing all the heavy lifting (and stirring) for you.

One of those is The Sword & The Grail slot, which does everything in its power to ensure players feel as though they have been cast back to a time when sword fights and spells were the order of the day. Here is how this medieval style game is forged.

How It Looks and Sounds

The scene is set for this epic game by its equally epic soundtrack, which could easily be ripped from one of your favourite medieval movies or TV shows. Then there is the game’s background, where during the base game the reels spin inside a stunning medieval castle. The Free Spins round then takes place within the castle walls.

Meanwhile, out on the reels there are symbols that come in the form of various shields, as well as mythological characters like Lady Guinevere and King Arthur himself. The latter is certainly a man you would want on your side in battle and the same is true on the reels, where if his symbol appears between 3-5 times on any payline a player stands to win either x2.5, x5 or x25 their original stake.

Grail Wilds and Sword Scatters

First and foremost, this is a 5-reel slot that has 20 paylines. Grail Wilds also lurk on the reels, which substitute for all symbols except the Sword Scatter, and are capable of adding Magical Multipliers of up to x100 into the mix. These become particularly potent in the game’s Free Spins feature.

The game’s Scatter symbol is, of course, King Arthur’s very own Excalibur. 3 or more of these glowing blue sword symbols need to appear on the reels simultaneously to trigger the Free Spins feature. During this feature, players collect swords with their Free Spins. In total there are 4 stages for prospective kings to reach. A player starts out as a squire, but they can ascend to being a King of The Knights.

The number of Free Spins and Excalibur symbols that a player has collected is all tracked in a bar that runs across the top of the screen. It also highlights the multipliers that a player is accruing as the Free Spins go by. If a player manages to reach the highest level (stage 4) then they stand to benefit from Grail symbols that act as x100 multipliers and that can in turn deliver x10,000 a player’s original stake. However, this is not an easy task, with a total of 18 Excalibur symbols having to be horded in order for a player to reach the game’s pinnacle.
