It’s never been tested but home field advantage sometimes works wonders. It seems to work in Max Pescatori’s favour, but if we going to be accurate, the Italian has done well wherever he’s played, home or abroad.
Pescatori’s progress has continued after the dinner break but at the expense of a pre-dinner favourite. With the board already showing 2♦ 2♣ 10♣ Q♣ Cato Solstad checked to Pescatori who made it 900 from the button, and he didn’t have to wait long for the call. An A♥ hit the river and Solstad fired out 5,000. Pescatori called, watched as Solstad turned over his Q♠ 8♣ and then with as little smugness as the moment required, turned over A♦ 8♥ .
For Pescatori another jolt forward to 30,000. For Solstad, who earlier broke the 30K mark, he’s down to 4,500.
