There are now 25 different felt colors available for you to choose from on PokerStars.

There’s no better feeling than winning an online poker tournament with flying colors. But did you know you could actually use felt colors to help you?

Let us explain.

On March 14, the latest PokerStars Release Notes announced that there are now 25 different felt colors available on the PokerStars client for you to choose from. Take a look:

To change the felt color on your table, all you have to do is:

  • Right click on the table felt
  • Select a color

This will only change the felt color on that particular table and won’t affect the color of your other tables.

While switching up your felt colors won’t magically change the cards you’re dealt or impact how you play them, having different color options can be a massive help when you’re playing more than one table.

The next time you tune in to watch your favorite Twitch streamer, you’ll notice they use different felt colors on different tables. But why is this?

There are a variety of reasons, so let’s go through them.

DIFFERENT TOURNAMENT FORMATS

Multi-tabling online poker tournaments requires a lot of focus and you need to keep your head in the game. But when your eyes are darting from hand to hand, table to table, it can be hard to keep track of what tournament it is you’re actually playing at any given moment.

Using a different color for different tournament formats is a great way of instantly recognizing which table you’re now on. There’ll be no need to scan the top of the table anymore to find out which event it is.

Here are some of the tournament formats you might want to pick individual colors for:

  • Traditional No Limit Hold’em
  • Progressive Knockouts
  • Win The Button
  • Regular speed
  • Turbo
  • Hyper Turbo
  • Pot Limit Omaha
  • Mixed Games
  • Satellites
  • Sit & Gos

You might also want to select certain colors depending on the buy-in of an event. For example, let’s say you’ve won a satellite for a big buy-in event that’s outside of your normal buy-in range, you could give that table a unique color so it stands out amongst your other tables.

DIFFERENT STAGES OF THE TOURNAMENT

Another way that felt colors can help you when multi-tabling is by letting you know which stage of the tournament you’re in.

For example, it could get confusing if you have a tournament that has been running for 10 minutes right next to a tournament you’ve been playing for four hours (particularly if you display your stack in big blinds rather than chips).

Arguably the two most useful ways you can use colors for tournament stages are when you’re approaching the money, and when you’re in the money.

Switching your table to a unique color when you’re nearing the money lets you know you might have to adjust how you play. Depending on your chip stack, that could mean tightening up or playing more aggressively.

Likewise, switching your table to a unique color once you’re in the money lets you instantly recognize you’re deep in the tournament and that there are payjumps to consider.

Now all you have to do is choose your favorite colors!
