Home / Poker / Streamer Showdown (with a twist): Who are you backing?

Online tournament poker works so well as live-streamed content on Twitch and YouTube because of the rollercoasters we ride as we cheer on our favourite streamers.

We can follow the entire journey from registration through to victory or elimination, and sweat every decision and card dealt along with the player. It’s exciting, gripping, and often nerve-wracking.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re watching a solo stream, a duo stream like the old Fintan and Spraggy show, or just flicking back and forth across a dozen of your favourites simultaneously – you want them all to do well.

BUT…WHAT IF YOU DIDN’T?

What if you didn’t want them all to do well?

In fact, what if you were actively anti-sweating them?

Moreover, what if you were praying that the Poker Gods would come down on certain streamers like the Hammer of Thor and that the thunder of their vengeance would echo through the PokerStars lobbies like the gust of a thousand winds?

“I’d never do that,” you’re probably thinking. “I want them all to do well.”

Trust us, when it comes to the upcoming Streamer Showdown, you don’t.

WHAT IS STREAMER SHOWDOWN?

The Streamer Showdown takes place on March 21 at 19:00 GMT (15:00 ET) on the PokerStars Twitch channel.

PokerStars Team Pros Ben “Spraggy” Spragg, Fintan “easywithaces” Hand, Parker “Tonkaaaa” Talbot, and Sam Grafton will play against podcasters and ambassadors Rory Jennings and Adam McKola in a cards-up contest.

So far, so standard.

What makes Streamer Showdown exciting is what happens before play begins.

PICK YOUR STREAMER – CHOOSE WISELY!

Ahead of the streamer’s shootout, PokerStars users can enter one of six one-cent ($0.01) buy-in tournaments – each with $2,000 guaranteed in the prize pool.

There are six events because there are six streamers, so the event you decide to register for should correlate with the player you think is going to win the shootout.

Users can only back a single player, so make your decision wisely!

Search for ‘Streamer Showdown’ in the PokerStars client

Registration is open right now!

But registration closes ahead of the Streamer Showdown broadcast, after which the losing players will have their their one-cent tournaments cancelled. This means only the winner of the Streamer Showdown and the users who chose them will have a tournament on the night.

If that wasn’t enough excitement, the winning Streamer will also then play in the one-cent tournament alongside all their supporters!

So what are you waiting for? Open up your PokerStars client, search for ‘Streamer’ in the search bar, then pick which streamer you’re supporting!
