Forty-three tournaments are now complete in the 2021 Turbo Series at PokerStars. Here are all the latest details from Thursday night’s play…
TURBO TAKES
Vieira notches customary win: He represents the Netherlands these days, but wherever Joao “Naza114” Vieira sets himself up, he is a force in major online poker tournaments. Last night, the displaced Portuguese player won his latest title in the Turbo Series $215 buy-in PKO event, beating a field of 2,339 entries. This was worth $59,056, which included $25,485 in bounty payments. Vieira has won four SCOOP titles and four in WCOOP, which marks him already as among the best in the world, and he almost always picks up one or two other titles in all the other series too. That was true in the recent Blowout Series, where he won a 6-Max High Roller, and now here’s the Turbo Series victory as well. His prize was the biggest awarded on Thursday night.
Lyapin denied by Quariguasi: The WCOOP Player of the Series, Rinat “Zapahzamazki” Lyapin, made two final tables on Thursday, one night after making his first of the series. But Lyapin is still looking for his first Turbo Series title having finished sixth in the Limit PLO Hi/Lo and then being defeated heads-up by Brazil’s Ricardo “RQuariguasi” Quariguasi in the $109 NLHE. In that latter event, Quariguasi and Lyapin were the final two from a 1,530-entry field, and had guaranteed at least $16,661. But Quariguasi proved the stronger of the two to take the victory, and the $23,374 payout that came with it. Quariguasi knows what it takes. He won a $55 Deep Stack event during Stadium Series last year, and this latest win takes his documented career tournament cashes close to $300,000.

He wins, take it: The player known on PokerStars as “uwintakeit” can usually be found at the high stakes tables, either battling in big cash games or in the High Roller Club tournament series. Last night in Turbo Series, uwintakeit bossed the $530 buy-in 6-Max event, striking a three-way deal with “JackRipperJr” and “Floesoe” at the end, and then beating them to the title. uwintakeit took $33,607 for this one, and his first Turbo Series victory.

TWITCH WATCH
We haven’t seen much of Fintan “easywithaces” Hand so far this series, but he was back with a deep run in the PKO “Short” event, finishing 14th for a $600 score. He was also getting the rub of the green in the $215 buy-in tournament, but did his opponent misclick call here?
Meanwhile, have you seen the new “Pigs Might Fly…” Throwable yet? If not, here’s Mason “Pye_Face21” Pye digging it out after winning a huge pot the difficult way:
COUNTRIES LEADER BOARD
Greece appeared on the countries leader board overnight, shooting straight in with two titles. The old favourites remain fixed at the top, with Brazil now putting a bit of distance between them and the rest. That’s thanks to another two wins overnight. Here’s how they stand:
6 titles – Brazil
4 – Netherlands
3 – Canada, Germany, Russia, UK
2 – Austria, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Poland
1 – Argentina, Belarus, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, New Zealand, Romania, Sweden, Ukraine.
