It’s safe to say that of all the players winning Platinum Passes during 2019, Scott Baumstein not only has the most experience and longest tournament résumé, he also has the most familiar with what it means to play in a PokerStars Players Championship event.
That’s because the 35-year-old New Yorker didn’t just participate in the first one at the 2019 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas, he made it all of the way to the final table where he finished fourth for a career-high $1.657 million score.
From the time PokerStars announced the PSPC was returning to Barcelona in 2020, Baumstein knew he’d be going back for another shot at a PSPC title. Winning the Moneymaker’s Road to PSPC – Seminole Main Event made the trip that much easier, as he earned himself a Platinum Pass after topping a 464-entry field.
“I’m a huge fan of the PSPC, obviously, having done well in it earlier this year,” Baumstein told PokerStars Blog after his win. “I was going to go anyway, but his makes it a little better!”

Baumstein currently makes his home in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, not far from the Seminole Hard Rock where he won his Platinum Pass. Prior to his big cash at the PSPC in the Bahamas, the Seminole Hard Rock had been the site of Baumstein’s previous career-high tournament score when he won a World Poker Tour Deepstacks event there in January 2018 for just over $220K.
A former options trader with a master’s degree in finance, over the last decade Baumstein has collected over $3.7 million in tournament earnings. He will certainly be one to watch in Barcelona.
