How to Play All-In Poker
In this video, Sebastian introduces the basic gameplay of PokerStars’ brand new game, All-in Poker.
What is All-in Poker?
All-in Poker is a cash game format where there are only two options: All-In or Fold. The buy-in is capped at a maximum of 5 big blinds. But as you progress your stack may grow to up to 25 big blinds, which is the max cap at the tables. This means players at the table have varying stack sizes requiring you to adjust your push-fold strategy accordingly. As with other poker games, always ensure you check the stacks of players behind you.
All-In Poker offers a wide range of stakes to suit every bankroll, including:
- $0.05 / $0.10 (max buy-in $0.50)
- $0.25 / $0.50 (max buy-in $2.50)
- $0.50 / $1 (max buy-in $5)
- $1 / $2 (max buy-in $10)
- $2 / $5 (max buy-in $25)
- $5 / $10 (max buy-in $50)
This variety means both recreational and high-stakes players can find a game that suits their preference.
Prepare for big swings
Because it’s a game where you’ll be all in all the time (not always with strong hands), prepare for high variance. Make sure your bankroll (maybe link to bankroll management article) is large enough for the stakes you choose to play. Make sure to stick to the smallest stakes.
Number of Players
You will need to adjust your starting hands based on the number of players at the table. For example, playing heads up All-In Poker you can play a wider range of hands compared to a full table.
Summary
- Stick to smallest stakes for your bankroll as the variance will be high.
- Adjust your starting hands based on stack sizes.
- Adjust your starting hands based on the number or opponents at the table.
