Home / Uncategorized / PS Women in April: Online/live results and prepping for Monte Carlo

The month of April was full of excitement for the women of PokerStars, with everything from our ever-growing lineup of online tournament offerings to the live events like EPT Berlin and the upcoming EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final. And it all provides the setup for May, when players converge on Monaco for the most exciting live tournament series of the year.

On the PokerStars tables

Speaking of setups, the PokerStars Sickest Setup, the contest provided players the opportunity to show off where their magic happens on the virtual tables. Team Online’s Adrienne “talonchick” Rowsome talked about her recent upgrade and showed pictures of her online poker setup, complete with cameos from Gibson the cat.

And when the winners were announced, Katie “hotjenny314” Dozier took one of the top prizes of 50,000 FPPs for her setup overlooking the ocean in Mexico. Her dog, Wilbur, made a cameo as well.

It was from that lovely locale that Dozier brought us the monthly addition of the “Anatomy of a Sunday Grind,”, this one featuring the always-painful Internet disconnection problem.

The new lineup at PokerStars has given players like Adrienne and Katie even more ladies-only tournament options every day, as the $8.80 NLHE Women’s Nightly has been added to the already popular $5.50 NLHE 6-Max Women’s Daily. The Women’s Tuesday offers an $11 NLHE 6-Max once per week, and there are two Pot Limit Omaha tournaments in the mix, a $5.50 buy-in PLO on Thursdays and $1.10 on Sundays. The ever-expanding schedule is listed on our tournament page.

And we can’t forget the PokerStars Women’s Club! More new players are joining the tables every day because of the popularity of the opportunity to win cash and prizes through the Club. More information is on our Women’s Club home page.

Sunday action

There’s no denying that the Women’s Sunday is one of our main online attractions. The $55 buy-in NLHE tournament offers a $10K guarantee each weekend, not to mention $50 Team Pro bounties.

Getting to know you/us

As we mentioned pkrbadgirl above, we try to get to know our regular PS Women players by talking to more of them each month. It gives some insight into the players at your tables, what makes them play the way they do, and why the women-only games are so enjoyable.

This month, Esther “Roxieforu05” Maludzinski talked to us about her recent recharge. Lidija “lulu.pk70” Nikodinovic discussed being a mother and poker player, doing well enough to add a Sunday Storm final table to her many accomplishments. And Lydia “domilid” Cugudda shared her best online poker tips and talked about taking second place to Team PokerStars Pro Jake Cody at the UKIPT Series in London.

PokerStars.TV host Sarah Grant is always interviewing players about their experiences at stops on the European Poker Tour, but in April, we asked her to share some of her thoughts about visiting Berlin. As it turned out, she found much more than history, as the lessons in it were just as important.

Meanwhile, we got some insight into the off-table life of Team Pro Vanessa Selbst. She recently embarked on a road trip across America with fianc̩e Miranda and their two dogs (embarked Рget it?), and she documented some of the trip for us.

Pro views

The members of PS Women are often outspoken about things that are important to them, and this month we heard from two of our pro players.

Team SportStar Fatima Moreira de Melo conveyed some thoughts about competitive women and how that plays a role in bringing more women into poker. She also wonders why competition among men is encouraged, but women who compete are being… well… not nice.

Team Pro Celina Lin is a big proponent of satellites, mainly those awarding seats into live tournaments that give her the opportunity to play more often and spend less on buy-ins. Her tips on playing satellites aren’t to be missed.

About those live tournaments…

Ahhh, yes, the EPT Berlin! We certainly want to congratulate Kathrine Weir of the United States, who emerged victorious from the field of 39 players in the €330 Women’s Event to take home the EPT trophy and €4,200 in cash.

With the Grand Final quickly approaching in Monte Carlo, we offered some opportunities for players to win PS Women Live prize packages worth €2,300. With satellites every day for only a few Euros, many women competed for the Sunday qualifiers. In April, we had several winners who will hopefully be on their way to beautiful Monaco this week for their chance to compete in the live Women’s Event. There’s still one more chance to get in on the action this weekend!

And for a little extra Monte Carlo inspiration, Jen Shahade shared her memories of the trip she took to the EPT in Monaco last year. She also shared some tips for those traveling to the Riviera this year, as well as this photo that is the epitome of inspiration.

Stay tuned in May for another exciting month on the virtual and live tables. We’ll have results of the EPT Monte Carlo events, as well as features on players like Leo Margets and PokerStars.TV host Sarah Grant.
