With multi-million dollar prize pools, innovative formats, world-class showdowns against the best competitors in the world, as well as riveting betting pools for game enthusiasts, you’ll be sure to love what these events have to offer!

Top eSports Events of 2025

League of Legends Worlds

Even though the League of Legends Worlds tournament only takes place towards the end of the year (October to November), it is still one of the most highly anticipated eSports events of the year. In fact, it is arguably the most popular event on the calendar every year. In 2024, the tournament saw a peak viewership of just under 7 million, making it the most-watched eSports event in the world.

League of Legends Worlds 2025 takes place in China and offers an estimated prize pool of roughly $5 million! 17 teams compete each year, with additional slots for regional teams.

This year, the tournament is expected to have an enhanced format, including the ‘Fearless Mode’ in which teams cannot reuse Champions. Organised by Riot Games, LoL Worlds is always a stellar event on the eSports calendar, offering an unforgettable display of teamwork and strategic play. If you are an eSports enthusiast, this is definitely one you will not want to miss.

The International (Dota 2)

The International 2025 takes place between the 4th and 10th of September. While the venue is still to be confirmed, it is believed that it will be held in either Seattle or Singapore.

Even though this tournament isn’t quite as popular as LoL Worlds, it certainly offers an impressive prize pool. The 18 top global Dota 2 teams who compete each stand a chance of winning their share of $30 million. Interestingly, the 2019 tournament set the world record for the largest eSports prize pool ever!

Hosted by Valve, this tournament is known for breaking records. With over 3 million viewers in 2024, the 2025 version is expected to be even bigger and better. A new format, which includes double eliminations, has been announced. The playoff stage has also been extended in order to maximise competitiveness.

Valorant Champions

Valorant Champions 2025 takes place between 1st September and 1st October. The competition is set to be held in Paris and has a $2 million prize purse on offer. In total, 16 teams from around the globe will compete for the prestigious title.

This tournament serves as the grand final for the Riot Games’ Valorant circuit. In 2024, over 1 million viewers tuned in, with even more expected in 2025. As a result, Riot has expanded its schedule for the year, offering even more qualifying rounds. More so, new map pools have been generated, and agent balancing updates are expected to add an extra layer of unpredictability and excitement to this year’s tournament.

Fortnite World Cup

Held in July, the Fortnite World Cup is definitely one of the must-watch eSports tournaments on the calendar for 2025. This year, the competition is to be hosted in Los Angeles, with a total prize pool of $10 million.

Players can choose to compete as either a solo player or in a team of two (or both). In total, there are over 100 players who take part in the tournament.

Hosted by Epic Games, 2025 is set for a killer Fortnite tournament schedule. According to the organisers, they have really focussed on fan engagement. In fact, they have even added an exciting in-game reward drop feature for spectators.

The event has not been held since 2019. However, given the popularity of the game and the overall increase in eSports viewership, the 2025 Fortnite World Cup is expected to break several records.
