THE PRECURSOR (1) is a very promising gelding by the sire of the moment St Jean, who sadly passed away recently. He has needed time to mature as most of the breed want, and with a recent trial win under his belt, he should go close to taking this out. LOUGH ESKE (2) is heading the right way with his form, and he is bred to be a lot better than a one-win horse. He is having his third run in NZ after relocating from Sydney, and he is ready to show his best form now. SHEZ SHAMUS (4) capped off some improving form with a tough win by a nose at Te Aroha nearly 3 weeks ago when leading all the way. She will again take some pegging back, so stick with her. ILLUSTRIOUS (6) set the pace before weakening in the run home at Trentham 3 weeks ago. He will find this an easier assignment, and is worth another chance. Include in all top 4 combos. BRAVE REBEL (5) made the most of a clever ride when cruising home to score by well over 3 lengths here last time out. He should hold his form now.
