MA TE WA (6) was sent out as a hot favourite in the G3 Phar Lap Trophy at Trentham 3 weeks ago and failed to finish his race off as well as expected. He was only second up and could have needed it, or the mile came too soon for him. He drops back a furlong and can make amends at this easier level. Follow your money. ARCHAIC SMILE (7) tried hard in a couple of good fields at G3 level at Riccarton in the spring, and she will find this company more to her liking. She doesn't mind some cut in the ground, and she is expected to be hard to hold out here, especially from the pole position. SINDEE (5) is a very progressive local mare who has finished in the top 3 in all of her starts back from a spell, and each time she has been the favourite. The blinkers are off, and she drops in weight, so stick with her. Overdue. MERCURIAL (2) is a former G1 winner nearing his peak fitness. Each way value. LOCH IN ORA (3) strips fitter second up, and she can't be taken lightly. Include in all combos.
