COOL JAKEY (6) expected to bounce back after he raced without luck from the wide draw with a fading seventeenth to King Of Roseau over 1400m in the LR Magic Millions Cup at the Gold Coast last Saturday. Winning rider hops back on, and he looks to get the right set up today. WHINCHAT (5) had the race won on straightening when taken to the front for a sharp win over 1350m at Wyong in BM100 grade. Has the class to overcome the wide gate in this stronger contest. Preferred trip and go close. STEP ASIDE (12) deserves his shot at this level and this looks a target race fourth-up. Sat midfield and wide with a respectable fourth to Cool Jakey over this track and trip. Key jockey change on the limit and looks the value play. SANDPAPER (1) set a blistering tempo early and was left a sitting shot late, when sixth over 1400m in the Buffering at Eagle Farm. Will roll forward again and give plenty of cheek. THUNDERLIPS (10) should relish the good tempo and look for him launching late.
