MAZINO (4) settled back and then hit the line hard for third at Te Rapa last start, and before that she set the pace and faded late for second at Te Aroha. She may have to go back again from a wide gate here, and if the gaps come at the right time, she can run into the money again. GLACIAL STORM (5) is a progressive filly who has her best draw in 3 starts. She can settle a touch closer to the pace and is good enough to win her first race at short notice. PROMINERE (2) has had a long spell, but looked in race-ready condition when winning a recent trial last month at Avondale by a short-head. Follow any market confidence. PAPER MOON (7) won a trial before running on late for fourth over 1000m at Trentham nearly 3 weeks ago. She might want more ground than 1100m as well, but if the tempo is strong, then she can run into the money this time. THUMBELINA (9) resumes from a spell and did win a trial in November. A good draw will help here, and she has to be respected. Watch the market.
