What is Top Hatting in Roulette?
Whether someone is playing Roulette online or at a land-based casino, the chances of them being able to bend the rules are practically non-existent. But there are some underhand techniques that remain, and which casino security systems are always on the lookout for.
Top Hatting is one of these where a Roulette dealer cooperates with a player, adding chips to one of the player’s bets after it has already won. The system of course requires a dealer to be in on the ruse and for both player and dealer to operate carefully so as not to raise the suspicions of the dealer’s colleagues.
By adding chips to an already winning bet, it is tougher for pit bosses and security cameras to pick up on the dealer’s sleight of hand.
Ascertaining how many chips were wagered in the initial bet is not always easy to do, especially when the dealer and player know how security cameras are mounted and aligned.
It goes without saying that this is not the sort of underhand tactic that should be undertaken lightly.
Dealers who are caught Top Hatting would at the very least be dismissed from his or her job, and the player would most likely be blacklisted from the establishment for life.
