Chelmsford City

Veteran who ended losing run on the Flat (hurdles winner this summer) at Chelmsford on Monday but not an obvious one to defy a penalty in a better race.

Back to winning ways at Kempton in May but decent efforts in defeat last 3 starts, running up to best when fourth of 5 at Ascot latest. This is easier.

Low-mileage 4-y-o (half-sister to stable's high-class Pyledriver) who very much had the run of the race when off the mark in 3-runner event at Doncaster (form since franked) in July. Not in same form back from a break at Salisbury 5 weeks ago but type to bounce back.

Without a win campaigned back on the Flat this year but arrives in decent heart, shaping like the best horse at the weights for a long way when second upped to this trip at Goodwood last month. This surface should play more to his strengths so rates a leading contender.

Had an excellent summer, completing a 4-timer at Lingfield. Down the field back on turf last 2 starts but expected to make an impact returned to all-weather.

Won twice on the Flat in Ireland last summer for previous yard but has shown little in a handful of starts over hurdles for current stable, including on handicap bow/return. Has since had a breathing operation.
