FAIR SHAKE (8) resumes a gelding and has been tuned with a Doomben trial win. He was respected in betting when fifth at Ipswich before the break, and his debut in the Listed Phelan Ready Plate gives him race experience out of stronger juvenile company. INZAIN DRAGON (4) is a Zousain gelding on debut that has come along nicely at the trials and looks set for a bright start. This inside pillar should see him handy and be right there when they sprint. NATION (9) has been freshened since a fair fifth at the Sunshine Coast and has the benefit of two trials since. Expected to be competitive. SYMO'S BOY (3) resumes a gelding after a long absence and was costly as favourite at both runs late last campaign, but he has placed at this venue and has enough ability to be competitive if ready. BODMIN MOOR (6) was plain first-up at Doomben but has plenty of scope for improvement with that run now out of the way.

He had raced greenly when favourite on debut over 1200m, so there is clearly more education to come, and the two trials since, including a close Beaudesert second, point to improvement. He was fifth at Ipswich before the spell when near the top of betting, and his debut came in the Listed Phelan Ready Plate at Doomben, a stronger form reference than most bring here. The move to an easier assignment helps, and his previous Doomben fourth behind Hidden Whisper was better than it looks after he raced wide throughout and was beaten just over a length.
