Verdict

CLIMB ON TOP (1) is the horse to beat after winning at Broome, where he sat handy, took over before the turn and fought on to beat Great Edition by just under a length. He was an outside chance there but brings the strongest recent win, drops back to a suitable 1190m range and has a strong record around this distance. OCEAN OUTLAW (5) has the most compelling danger profile, having run second in a BM68+ at Mt Newman despite racing wide throughout, and his earlier Broome run had merit after a slow start. TEABISCUIT (8) has to turn around two plain provincial efforts, yet his record at this track and distance keeps him in the mix for a better showing. FAMEUX (3) backs up quickly after a slow-start fourth at Mingenew and has enough 1190m form to be treated as a genuine place hope with a winning rider back aboard. BONNY ROCK (6) won't be far away coming back to this company.

Comes through a provincial 3yo+ Class 5 at Bunbury where he was hampered early but still finished ninth, beaten five and a half lengths after finding little when asked. His Belmont Park run prior was weaker again on soft ground. Finds the right race to improve.

    Verdict
Returns from a two-month let-up after a tough Broome win over 1300m, where he sat handy, took over before the turn and beat Great Edition by just under a length. He was only an outside chance in betting there, which adds merit, and his earlier Derby fourth in a 3yo+ Benchmark 68+ was better than last of four reads. Carries weight, but the claim helps and his recent form makes him the one to beat.

    Verdict
Returns off a six-week let-up after a solid second in a 3yo+ Benchmark 68+ at Mt Newman, beaten two lengths by Kings Call despite racing wide throughout. That followed a Broome fifth where he was slow away, covered ground and still charged home after being near the top of an open market. His Broome run had merit too, and he rates the clear danger with the right run.

    Verdict
Backs up quickly after finishing fourth in a 2yo+ Benchmark 62+ at Mingenew, beaten three and a half lengths after being slow to begin. Two back at Mt Newman he was awkward away, raced wide throughout and failed to finish off in a 3yo+ Benchmark 56+. Slow starts remain the query, but he has the profile to run into a place.

    Verdict
Was well beaten in Saturday company at Belmont Park last start, finishing last in a 4yo+ NMW1Y over 1400m on soft ground after tracking the speed and offering little. She was also beaten over 11 lengths at Kalgoorlie the run prior. A minor placing is the more realistic aim.

    Verdict
Returns from a four-month break after ending last campaign with a plain 14th at Belmont Park, beaten just over seven lengths after being unwanted in the market. His previous Kalgoorlie run also left him well held at long odds. Can't see him featuring.

    Verdict
Returns from a two-month freshening after finishing last at Broome in a 3yo+ Benchmark 58+, beaten nine lengths after travelling on speed and weakening without excuse. His Derby second in a 3yo+ Benchmark 68+ two runs back reads better, and he did beat Climb On Top home there, but he must reproduce that run rather than the latest one. The Derby second gives him some hope, but he has to rebound strongly to threaten.

    Verdict
Back from a six-month break after closing last campaign with a flat last at Narrogin in a 2yo+ Benchmark 44+, beaten over 11 lengths after settling rearward and failing to come on. His York fourth prior had some late merit, but he has not won in 12 tries around this distance. Happy to bet around him first-up.
