HAPPY STAR (1) demolished his maiden steeple rivals at Hawera a fortnight ago when scoring by 15 lengths in a canter to the line, and he is perfectly placed in this with only an extra half-a-kilo more to carry. He should really be too good again. EMPIRE STATE (2) made an acceptable debut effort over steeples here 3 weeks ago, and he will only improve as he smooths out his jumping habits over the bigger fences. He can make the quinella with the top pick. RED NED (4) chased home the top pick when finishing third in the same race. He is a handy jumper, who can figure in the money again. SLOANE SQUARE (6) is still learning about jumping, and he is still a young gelding in this role, being only a 5YO. He is in good hands, and can figure in the top 3 here. THE REPUBLICAN (7) is always competitive wherever he lines up, and his second place finish over hurdles here 3 weeks ago was full of merit. Stick with him.
