SHOWGIRL (15) was favourite on debut when she took a long time to wind up from the 1-1 and beaten 3/4L. Better for the experience and won a trial here before that. PROTEUS (10) made up a tonne of ground from the rear when long odds on debut in August then couldn't capitalise on handier run up to this trip last time. Fitter now & wide gate may help here. TSUNAMI SUE (6) put in a solid run when fresh at Ruakaka and ran on from a mile back last time. Possible improver. LICORICE (8) Forget the debut a year ago. Has won 2 of her 4 trails since including one here. Respect.
