JAKE (3) is still a young hurdler as far as age goes, and he will be even better in this role during this campaign. He showed his pace on the flat when winning at New Plymouth 9-days ago, and he is expected to be very competitive in this, despite facing some handy jumpers. MONT VENTOUX (1) has been a genuine performer on the flat and over hurdles for a long time. He has already had a fair bit of racing this year, and if it turns into a slog, he could be the toughest of them all. THE REPUBLICAN (4) was beaten by just a short head last time out by the top pick. He has been in the money in both of his hurdle starts, winning once, and he can turn the tables this time. SCOTTY (7) fought on gamely at Trentham when making his debut in this role there 11 days ago. He will carry 3kg less this time, and another good effort can be expected. Include. HIDALGO (6) was much better when fighting on for fourth at Trentham, and his peak is not far away. Stick with him. UHTRED (5) is not the worst.
