Verdict

THUNDERING SOUL (1) is hard to look past after scoring well first-up here and justifying his firm market support. His home record over this trip gives him a strong base to repeat. PROVANCE (4) is the danger off stronger recent assignments, with his sixth in a CG BM78 at Doomben easier to accept now he returns from Saturday company and has a previous win at this track. His Ipswich fourth two back was also sound after being forced wide. JEMELDI (3) was behind Thundering Soul last start but still worked home into third after beginning slowly, and now meets hi with a 2kg swing which could prove decisive. MILTON ROAD (2) resumes after scoring twice at the picnics last campaign. Has been readied with an easy Dalby trial and deserves to be respected despite the tougher meeting. MR EVANS (7) also comes through the picnics but arrives in winning form and is a distance specialist.

Resumed in the right style at this track, travelling just off the lead before sprinting clear to beat Gitalong by just over a length as an odds-on favourite. That followed another win at this venue in July, when he beat Thats Archies Girl as a well-supported favourite. With the claim, he sets the standard and can make it two on the trot.

Returns from a five-week freshening after tackling Saturday company in a CG BM78 at Doomben, where he was hampered at the start, settled back and finished sixth behind Gram. His previous Class 5 fourth at Ipswich was better, beaten a length and a half on soft ground after being forced wide. Track and distance credentials make him a serious danger.

    Verdict
Worked home evenly for third at this track last start, beaten two and a half lengths by Thundering Soul after beginning slowly and racing keenly through the middle stages. His Ipswich sixth prior was fair rather than threatening, but he has one win and two places from four starts this season. Honest current-season form, but the win record at this track and trip is the query.

    Verdict
Returns from a three-month break with a close second in a Dalby trial for the new stable, which is at least a positive fitness pointer. He ended last campaign seventh on the Gold Coast Poly after beginning awkwardly and racing wide, and had been beaten a length and a half by Jemeldi in a BM62 at Gatton prior. His overall and distance records are sound. Is two-time winner fresh, so worth keeping in mind.

    Verdict
Returns from a five-month break after ending last campaign with back-to-back wins, most recently taking an Open at Nanango by just under two lengths from Calmer Karma. That was picnic company and this is a harder meeting, but he had earlier won a BM65 at Burrandowan despite racing wide. Last-campaign wins read well, though this is stronger company.

    Verdict
Was well held first-up at this track, finishing second last and beaten just over six lengths after being fractious at the start and failing to make ground. Her previous run at this venue was also plain, finishing last and beaten over 10 lengths after leading. The upside is a proven record at this track and distance, but recent performances make her an outside place hope only. Looking to others.

    Verdict
Returns from a five-week freshening after winning an Open at Bedourie, beating Lucky Fortuna by just under two lengths as a short odds-on favourite in a small field. This is a harder meeting than that picnic assignment, but his Birdsville second in BM65 grade two back had merit after racing wide and being beaten a neck by Terambi. Harder meeting, but his recent form keeps him in the place mix.
