Started the last campaign impressively when in the placings over 1200m at Ballarat, which was one of 5 top-three finishes from 6 first-up runs. Went around in better races than this at most starts last prep, so form better than it reads. KIPPIS (2) settled well back before finishing 7 lengths adrift in seventh over 1200m at Mornington last time. Rates highly and expected to go well now at peak fitness. Just needs to overcome that wide gate. ICED POPPY (1) produced a reasonable effort when second last start over 1000m at Pakenham Synthetic. That followed a win at Bendigo the start prior. In contention this time. THE FLYING POPOV (5) gave away a considerable start over 1300m at Geelong last time before hitting the line well to finish sixth. Solid top-three prospects. OCEANELLA (9) has logged back-to-back wins this prep and rises in grade here but confidence is obviously so, so reluctant to dismiss.
