Verdict

SCRIPTED (14) couldn't get the job done as fav last time but found a smart fresh horse. Her NSW form reads strongly and she sets up a treat at the weight under Newman's claim. Draws to get all the favours and should be getting the job done this time. SHE MOVES TOO (15) is the immediate danger after making solid inroads in both runs back and will be suited by the rise in trip. TORO STRIKE (5) repaid the faith here last time when closing off stylishly to get the verdict. Will need to raise the bar again here under the big weight but does keep Thompson who's in red-hot touch. HOPPER (1) steps back out the mile for the first time since joining the stable and his recent splits suggest he should relish it. Not dismissing.

Went close at Eagle Farm last start, finishing second to Easy Love by just over a length after being well-supported favourite and closing nicely. Her Rosehill BM78 fourth two back was just as good, coming from well back after beginning awkwardly and being beaten just under a length by Silvanito. Track record and 3kg claim make her the one to beat.

Produced a determined Class 2 win at this track last start, covering ground before beating Cantarito by just over half a length as odds-on favourite. He had been sent out favourite when runner-up to Global Eclipse at this venue the run prior, so the form pattern is solid. Ben Thompson has a strong record on him, so he belongs in the mix.

    Verdict
Lifted third-up prospects with a strong fourth in a BM78 at this track, making solid inroads from well back to finish a length and a half from Lockyer. Her first-up ninth in a BM72 at this venue was plain but not beaten far. Prior 1600m placing and winning rider back give her a strong chance.

Began awkwardly at Eagle Farm last start, settled back and still charged home to finish fifth in a 1 Metro Win, beaten two and a half lengths by Spaceballs. He had earlier run fourth in a CG BM78 at Gold Coast, so the recent form has some depth. Class relief and wet-track form help, but the mile record keeps him to place claims.

    Verdict
Had no clear excuse when sixth in a 1 Metro Win at Eagle Farm, settling back and finishing three and a half lengths from Spaceballs at generous odds. She was second last in a FM BM78 at Caulfield before that, though only beaten just over three lengths after being hampered late. One win from one at the distance is a plus, but the wet-track record is the concern. Minor claims.

    Verdict
Failed to quicken when seventh in a BM78 at this track last start, beaten just under three lengths by Lockyer after enjoying a position close enough. His prior BM72 fourth at this venue was better, though he also had the run of the race before flattening late. Blinkers come off, but others appeal more.

Third-up now after finishing last in a four-horse BM74 on the Pakenham Synthetic, beaten six and a half lengths by Two Wolves after leading. His Mornington BM62 second two back reads better, though he lacked a turn of foot there as well. Better two back, but a lift is required.

Led and was only caught late when fourth at Sunshine Coast, beaten a length and a half by Prochester, but that provincial form now has to stand up in harder company. The run prior was a neck second at Gold Coast after giving a sight. Must find more.

Backs up quickly after a fourth in a CG BM58 at Ipswich, where he settled back and charged home to be beaten a length and a half by Azuki. His Warwick fourth in Class 2 grade was sound without being threatening. Harder company demands a clear step forward.

Comes off a decisive BM58 win at Toowoomba, tracking the lead before beating Bole Le by two lengths as one of the market hopes. His previous BM60 third at Sunshine Coast was also sound after racing wide throughout. Has to lift again.

    Verdict
Has held form well this campaign, most recently finishing second in a 1 Metro Win at Eagle Farm when well-supported favourite and beaten just under two lengths by Spaceballs. His soft-track BM70 third before that was also honest after covering ground. Strong overall record makes him a genuine place hope.
