Verdict

DA SNOOP DOG (9) started last prep in promising fashion but lost his way in his last two. Has been gelded during the break and looks to have come back in good order, assessing his recent trial win. Drawn sticky, but that's the only knock. KEEP SAFE (5) is the main danger fresh, readied with two handy trials. Hasn't won for a while but is proven at the track and trip and is drawn to get all the favours. PROFITEUR'S FIL (14) is progressive, placed at every start and was only beaten a long neck when well backed at Lismore. Tackles stronger company but deserves respect. ODIN'S MOUNT (4) was a good winner fresh at Warwick and with natural improvement he can play another major role.

Returns from a five-month break with a Doomben trial win to support his readiness. His final run last campaign was a well-held Doomben Class 1 tenth, but he raced wide and that effort is not the best guide to his ability. Looks to have come back in great order now gelded and can play a major role.

    Verdict
Has done little wrong in four starts and was only beaten a long neck by Bellarata in a Lismore Class 1 last start as odds-on favourite. That was in country company, so today's meeting is a stronger test, but he had won a CG Mdn there by a length and a half the run prior and remains unbeaten out of the placings. Proven at the trip and is obvious danger.

    Verdict
Resumed with a strong Warwick win, starting a well-supported favourite and beating Thunderous by just under two lengths in country grade. He now meets harder company than that last-start assignment, though the manner of the win suggested he had returned in good order. Harder company now, but that return puts him right in the mix.

Returns from a five-month break after a sound Doomben Class 4 fifth, beaten just over three lengths at long odds when making ground late. He had been held up at Sunshine Coast two back in Class 3 company, so the last campaign had more merit than the bare form suggests. Strong winning chance fresh.

Arrives off consecutive Gold Coast seconds, the latest in Class 4 company when beaten two lengths by Propaganda at big odds. He had also been run down late the start before after beginning awkwardly and racing wide. Honest type who can hold a placing.

    Verdict
Resumes after four months off following a Gatton BM65 win over 1400m, where he was sent out favourite and held off Halfachance by a nose. He had also been beaten only a nose there the start before, so the last campaign ended in honest form. Honest last campaign, but this venue remains a sticking point.

    Verdict
Resumes after three months off following a Gold Coast BM65 fourth, beaten eight lengths after making ground without threatening. The run prior at this venue was more encouraging, finishing fourth and beaten just under two lengths. A Gold Coast trial second is useful, but his track-and-distance record is modest and he must sharpen up to threaten. Place chance.

Had excuses when second last in a BM70 at Gold Coast Poly, beginning awkwardly and covering ground before being beaten over 15 lengths at long odds. His previous BM65 run at this track was much better, finishing sixth but beaten just over a length by Fireforce on soft ground. Place chance with the claim.

Had more against him than the margin shows when fourth to Heroic Chief in a BM65 at Kilcoy, forced wide near the 500m and then held up late before finishing just over two lengths away. He had won a Class 3 at Nanango the run prior, beating Wally's Boy by just over a length. Visor goes on first time and he has each-way substance.

Finished strongly from the back to win a BM65 at Kilcoy last start, beating Mister Selfie by a length and a half at generous odds. That was a good response after he was last in a BM68 at Warwick, where he raced keenly and wide without cover. The query is backing it up, but he has place claims.

Backs up quickly after a BM68 fifth at Sunshine Coast, where he worked home evenly and was beaten two and a half lengths. He had won a BM66 at Grafton the start prior, beating Battle Of Vienna as favourite, so the recent form is sound. Wide draw and limited recent win strike rate keep him down the order.

Has been well held in two Class 1 runs since winning, most recently seventh at Doomben when unwanted in the market and beaten seven and a half lengths without an obvious excuse. He was also last at this track two back after leading and fading. Has to find a much sharper finish.

    Verdict
Resumes after four months off with only a recent Deagon trial noted, and the last campaign ended with a Gold Coast sixth after he began slowly. The start prior was an eighth in a Sunshine Coast Class 1, where he was hampered early and could not make ground. Others appeal more.
