RALLY THE TROOPS (2) settled out the back fresh but closed off soundly over 1200m at Belmont, ending up 2L off the winner. He usually improves sharply second-up and the fresh run looks a nice platform for him to build on. Parnham rides now and with a favourable set-up, he can fire a shot. SCIENCE DEGREE (3) led and bolted in over 1300m here last time out with Riordan on board. She takes 3kg off him today with the apprentice claim and out to 1400m is no issue. Can work to the front and make every post a winner. EXCELTRAIN (1) is better than he showed last time out when fading out of contention at Belmont 21 days ago. His form prior was sound, however, and this looks a suitable race on his prior form. Right in this. HEDAWOOD (5) looks well placed out in trip and with a better draw now. ODINAKA (6) won't be far away.
