COGNOSCENTI (11) really hit his straps at the end of his last prep over a middle distance and he looks set to go right on with it this season after winning a recent tune-up trial at Timaru. A good gate, and Michael McNab in the saddle all add to the confidence. On top. SHAWSHANK (9) has been in strong form over 1400m here on heavy tracks through the winter, and an extra 200m should not bother him at this stage of his prep. He stays on 54kg, and has each-way claims again with conditions to suit. COURT OF APPEAL (7) is resuming as a 6YO mare, and she has not been over-taxed with racing. A recent trial placing says she is in good order for her return, and a bold run is likely. GRAEME JOHN (8) took luck out of the equation third up on the poly track here 9 days ago when leading throughout to score narrowly.
