VALLEY KING (3) loves Riccarton, winning 3 of 5 with an unlucky placing as well. A wet track would really suit but he ran on strongly to score over 1600m at Trentham last start on a good track. Take beating. COGNOSCENTI (2) got back from the wide draw and struggled to get into the race last start at Ashburton. Good efforts when handier in the run both runs prior. Yet to miss a place this track and trip with 2 wins from 3 starts. Danger. PERLINO (4) good effort when fresh, going down narrowly on the Cambridge synthetic track in September then came wide turn and had a bump when beaten 6L at Ellerslie. Respect from the good draw and won her lone start 3rd up. PROSERVE (1) solid efforts in two runs this prep coming from the rear to be just over 2L from the winner at 1600m and 1800m. Has claims here. OVERHEATED (5) racing well over further with wins at 2200m two of his last three. Can figure in a stoutly run 1600m here.
