SUMO SANDY (8) was restrained towards the rear fresh, a spot he's not used, but good trail into the straight when popping off Onavuitton's back and letting down strongly to grab. Wouldn't be surprised to see Stanley press the button from the wide draw and take up the running. Big watch. ONAVUITTON (7) raced wide throughout when resuming here two weeks ago but never gave in and kept coming. Will appreciate the extra 200m second-up and with a softer run in transit he can play a major role. REGAL MIGHT (3) got the bob last start at Bendigo when leading pillar-to-post, and was unlucky not to score the start prior when missing by neck. Not a heap tougher this time and Kennedy's 2kg claim helps. Can give another sight. ZOURAIN (1) backs up quickly after a strong win at Pakenham last week. Loves this trip but does have to lug the big weight.

Returned with a sound third in a BM70 at this track, beaten three lengths by Esmahli, and that form is relevant given he had Onavuitton behind him. He is back into a BM66 and has an excellent record around 1400m, with one win and one placing from two attempts. Already beat Onavuitton there and is proven at 1400m.

Resumed with a solid fourth in a BM70 at this track, beaten just under four lengths by Esmahli after tracking the speed and lacking the final quicken. That is useful form for this BM66, and he has already won at this venue. Local record and Jye McNeil make him a major threat.

    Verdict
Returns from a one-month freshening after a luckless Geelong run, where she was last but beaten just under five lengths after racing wide from the 800m and being checked late. Before that she won a BM62 at Seymour, beating Plunger on soft ground, and she also holds a recent win over Zourain. Prior Seymour BM62 win and track record keep her in the each-way mix.

Comes back from a BM78 at Geelong where he was sixth, beaten just over five lengths, after settling rearward and only holding ground. His prior Bendigo third was better, charging home from well back to miss by a length and a half on soft ground. Better judged on his Bendigo third, so he profiles as a solid place hope.

Returns from a five-week let-up in excellent form, having dead-heated in a BM62 at Bendigo on soft ground after being beaten a neck there by Shamansara. He faces a stronger meeting and steps up from BM62 grade, but he is effective on rain-affected going and gets a 2kg claim. Soft-track form and a 2kg claim make him the one to beat.

Turned his form around sharply last start, winning a BM62 at Pakenham by a length on soft ground after being an outside chance in betting. The run prior at Geelong was plain, but he now backs up quickly, has Dylan Dean's 3kg claim, and his 1400m record is strong. Rises in grade but has the 3kg claim and strong 1400m credentials.

Resumed with a narrow BM62 win at Warrnambool, scoring by a nose from Bancoora after settling well back. That followed a fifth at Ballarat before a break where he also made late ground from an impossible position. Grade rise and 1400m record temper the win case, but he can run into a placing.

Returns from a two-month freshening after winning a Mdn at Geelong by a nose, overcoming a slow start and trouble getting clear near the 200m. His Stawell third before that was on heavy ground and also came with early interference. Barrier one helps, but a BM66 is a sizeable rise.

Backs up quickly after finishing fourth behind Zourain in a BM62 at Pakenham, beaten a length and a half after racing wide. That was a clear improvement on his Ballarat ninth, where he blundered shortly after the start and made no impression late. Better last week, but the BM66 rise makes this tougher.

Was fifth at this track last start over 1600m, beaten three lengths by Itsukushima after settling back and only holding ground. His Bendigo run before that was similar, eighth and beaten five lengths after beginning awkwardly. Honest enough, but recent finishes point to place claims.

Resumes after six months away with two trials since last racing, so there is some fitness base to work with. He ended last campaign ninth in a BM66 at Bendigo as favourite, racing keenly before failing to finish off, but had won a BM62 at this track the start before. Keen racing is the query, but his best form gives him place claims.

Was tenth behind Zourain in a BM62 at Pakenham last week, beaten four and a half lengths after being unwanted in the market and bumped at the start. He had also been last in a BM74 at this track the week before, finding little when there to strike. A track-and-trip win and weight relief are positives, but his current campaign form has been well below what is required. Looking to others.

Resumes after six months off, having ended last campaign with a Sale BM62 third over 1736m behind Natural Ruler. He had won a BM62 there the start before, beating Grand Sage by a neck, so the old form has substance. Distance record is the concern, so this looks a watch-and-see run.

Back from a four-month break after a poor Sandown-Hillside BM70 run, finishing second last and beaten over 10 lengths at big odds. His earlier fourth at the same venue was sound enough, and two trials since include a close second at Cranbourne. Last BM70 run was too plain to be confident.

    Verdict
Returns from a two-month freshening after finishing tenth in a BM62 at Geelong, beaten seven lengths at big odds, with a wide run offering some mitigation. The Seymour run prior was also plain, ninth and unable to make ground. She has a deep 1400m record, but is winless and unplaced from eight starts in the past 12 months, so a sharp form reversal is required. Can't recommend with any confidence.

Has been safely held in two runs this campaign, most recently sixth in a BM70 at this track when beaten just over six lengths at big odds. She was last of six in a FM BM70 at Pakenham Synthetic before that, albeit picking up late from the rear. Has to lift sharply.
