HEDJET (8) got off the mark in style two back at Geelong when leading pillar-to-post and justifying his short quote. Had no peace last time on a wet deck and was tucked away on the inside, before popping off the fence in the straight and finishing off well into fourth. At his top now and is drawn to advantage. Suspect he gets the job done. MOUNT SABYINYO (1) is desperate to break through after two close finishes, the most recent as fav at Sale. At his top now but will need a clever ride from a sticky draw. SURPERB FROST (6) got the job done as favourite when resuming at Mornington. Tougher now but strips fitter and has more to offer stretching to the mile. Should be blending in at the right time. SINISTER SAUCE (9) comes off a Kilmore win, gets meaningful weight relief and has an excellent jockey-horse record, but she's yet to fire a shot here in five starts. Prefer as a place chance.

Drops out of a BM70 after finishing fourth at Sale on heavy ground, beaten a length and a half by Kahhof when near the top of betting. Before that he won his Mdn at Geelong by three lengths as an odds-on favourite, beating Silky Seth with plenty in hand. Wet form is solid and the Geelong Mdn win two back gives him a genuine winning case.

Finished fifth at Geelong last start over 1400m, beaten just under five lengths after settling just off the lead and keeping on. Two back he was a sound third in a BM62 at Geelong, closing strongly as favourite on soft ground. First look at 1600m is the question, but a place is within reach.

    Verdict
Went close again at Sale last start, tracking the speed and fighting hard when second to Overpriced, beaten half a length as the well-supported favourite. That followed another narrow second at Geelong where he was slow away and held up late. Carries the top weight, but the recent form reads strongly for this.

Led and gave cheek at this track last start before being claimed late, finishing sixth but only beaten just over three lengths, with interference noted near the finish. The synthetic run prior was weaker when he tired after leading at Pakenham Synthetic. Recent finishing strength keeps him in the place mix.

Returned with a narrow but determined BM56 win at Mornington, coming from back in the field and beating Fearless Writer by a long neck as the well-supported favourite. This is a rise to BM66 grade, even with the meeting level easing from that metro assignment. The BM66 rise is real, but he profiles as a major player.

Resumed with a seventh at this track, beaten just under four lengths after settling back and never getting into the race, and the market was cold on him at 41.00. His previous run at Mornington was better late, making solid ground for sixth on soft ground. Place claims rather than a strong win case.

Won a FM BM56 at Kilmore last start, tracking the lead and putting Mahmudah away by just over a length despite starting among the outsiders. That was a sharp response to her Tatura fifth, where she jumped awkwardly and over-raced. Class rise is the test, but she can run well again.

    Verdict
Worked home evenly for fourth in a BM62 at Kyneton last start, beaten just under two lengths after being restrained early, and he now rises in grade. The run prior at Caulfield Heath was plain when beaten six and a half lengths after covering ground. Weight relief and a strong 1600m record help, but he has been unplaced in all four starts this season and has to lift. Looking to others for the winner.

Was held up until the 200m when fifth in a BM62 at this track first-up, but he was still beaten seven and a half lengths and started 101.00. His previous run at Ballarat Synthetic was also safely held at big odds. Weight relief helps, though the wet record is a genuine concern.

Backs up quickly after finishing eighth in a BM56 at Kilmore, beaten over 12 lengths at long odds on soft ground, and there was no obvious excuse offered. His previous run at this track was also well below the required level, beaten over 18 lengths in a BM62. Barrier one helps only a little.
