Verdict

PECCAVI (9) was a smart winner here at the midweeks when stretching to this trip fourth-up. Looks to have turned a page and can keep the ball rolling. HOT MAJESTY (4) is an obvious danger, coming off an odds-on Ipswich win over 1965m when leading all the way. Suspect they push forward again on him to give a sight, and Newman's 3kg claim helps offset the big weight. HARD EVIDENCE (7) has upside second-up for Chris Waller and Ryan Maloney. Only warmed into late here when resuming and will appreciate stepping out to this sort of trip with firmer footing. Draw should have him closer and he's right in the mix. ROCHEDALE HERO (6) has been highly consistent this prep and deserves respect. Just has to run the trip. CANTARITO (8) possesses a strong turn of foot on his day and can make his presence felt late if the pace is genuine.

Resumed with a sixth in a BM68 at this track, beaten just under five lengths after settling rearward and making some ground without threatening The Dramatist. He had earlier contested a Quality at Flemington on heavy ground and met trouble there. Wet-track record is sound and he can improve.

Continued a consistent campaign when third in a 1 Metro Win at Doomben last start, beaten a length and a half after racing keenly and striking interference. He was also second at this track two back as favourite, beaten just under two lengths by Spaceballs. New to 1815m, but recent form keeps him a genuine place hope.

    Verdict
Was second last in a BM78 at this track on heavy ground last start, beaten nine and a half lengths with no clear excuse after settling rearward. Her Doomben second two back was far stronger, beaten just over half a length by Toro Strike, and she had Peccavi behind her that day. Place claims if she rebounds.

    Verdict
Produced the right reference when winning a BM68 at this track last start, making up a stack of ground to beat Giapponese by just over half a length on soft going. That followed a Doomben fourth where she closed off after being held up near the 200m. Brings the best winning case.

    Verdict
Won a Class 2 at Ipswich last start as the odds-on favourite, leading to the turn and opening up to beat Down Under Stunnah by just over a length. He had earlier run fourth in a BM78 at this track, beaten just under two lengths after beginning awkwardly. The claim helps and he profiles as a major chance.

Had excuses when tenth behind Peccavi in a BM68 at this track last start, racing wide throughout and being checked near the 250m before finishing six and a half lengths away. His previous second here was much better, beaten just under a length after covering ground. Track-and-trip record gives him place appeal.

Finished fifth in a BM68 at this track last start, beaten three lengths after settling well back and picking up nicely late. Two back at Doomben he was again fifth, beaten two and a half lengths, but did not quicken. More is required.

    Verdict
Was beaten six and a half lengths as a well-supported favourite at Toowoomba last start, with a bump near the 400m some context but not enough to fully excuse the result. His previous fourth at this track was sound, beaten just over two lengths by Giapponese. Has to rebound strongly.

    Verdict
Returns from a five-week let-up after finishing third in a BM58 at Kilcoy, but he was beaten eight and a half lengths and lacked the turn of foot to threaten Trusty Bandit. He had won a BM55 at Gympie the run prior, beating Von Bee well, and the 3kg claim is useful. Must improve in harder company.
