Verdict

ZIP LOCK (2) resumes as the horse with the strongest exposed form, having won the G3 BJ McLachlan Stakes here before finishing sixth in the LR Magic Millions 2yo Classic when favourite. Two trials should have him forward enough, and he can make the perfect return. WARREGO RIVER (12) looks the sharpest danger after making an encouraging return here last time. Should appreciate stretching further second-up and gets in light for Moor, who sticks. WAINAI (11) made quite the impression in his debut win at the Gold Coast, and while this is obviously tougher he deserves genuine consideration. ELEVATING (6) was a head away at this track first-up despite blundering at the start. With a cleaner getaway she can make her presence felt down in the weights. EGMONT (14) is another progressive runner that warrants safe keeping.

Produced a strong first-up return at this track, finishing second to Esperanza by a head on heavy ground after blundering at the start and covering ground. That effort has extra merit and she also had Cool Gent behind her. Before the break she won a Mdn at Ipswich as an odds-on favourite. Handles wet ground and already has Cool Gent behind her this campaign.

Returns from a lengthy spell with the best black-type profile in the race. He won the G3 BJ McLachlan Stakes at this track on soft ground, beating Tornado Valley by a length and a half, then was sixth in the Listed Magic Millions 2yo Classic after being held up until the 250m when favourite. Proven at 1200m and on wet ground; the one to beat.

Made a winning debut at Gold Coast, beating The Grey One by just under two lengths in a Mdn on soft ground after settling back and overcoming a steadying incident near the 900m. That was a good starting point at generous odds and he drops from 59kg to 54kg. Open grade is the new test, but he has place claims.

Has won her past two, most recently an FM BM60 at Ipswich where she was odds-on and beat Final Voyage by just over a length despite jumping awkwardly and being held up near the turn. The run prior was a dominant Warwick Mdn win. Harder here and yet to place at this track, but barrier one gives her claims.

Backs up quickly after going within a head at Toowoomba in a BM60, where he was favourite and had to deal with being held up approaching the 300m before being bumped. That was a better effort than his Doomben sixth in Class 1 grade the run prior. Quick back-up is the query, but place claims are clear.

Closed off nicely for fourth at this track last start, beaten just under two lengths by Esperanza after beginning awkwardly, settling back and covering ground. That followed a debut Mdn win on the Gold Coast Poly, where he overcame another awkward start. Has ground to make up on key rivals, but remains an each-way hope.

Lifted strongly last start when third at this track on heavy ground, beaten just over half a length by Esperanza after looming and fighting on well. That was a clear step forward from his 1000m return, where he was hampered shortly after jumping and never a threat. Proven at this track and distance, with the wide draw the main query.

Resumed with a solid second in a Class 1 at this track, beaten a length by Wootten Hyde after travelling well but lacking the final punch. She now goes from mid-week company to a harder meeting, yet the run should tighten her and Daniel Moor staying with her is a plus. Harder meeting now, but Daniel Moor stays aboard and she is a major danger.

Returns from a five-month break after ending last campaign second last in the G1 J.J. Atkins at this track, beaten over 12 lengths on heavy ground after leading and weakening. The start prior, he was sixth in the G2 BRC Sires' Produce Stakes, beaten just over three lengths at long odds. Recent stakes form was plain, so a sharp lift is required.

Returns from a six-month break after finishing second last in the G2 BRC Sires' Produce Stakes at this track, beaten just over eight lengths at long odds. She was also eighth in the G2 Spirit Of Boom (Champagne) Classic at Doomben and made little impact. Last campaign's G2 form was plain, so improvement is essential.

Comes off a narrow Mdn win at this track over 1000m, making up a stack of ground to beat Holy Terror by a head after being near the top of betting. She had earlier run second at Ballina after racing wide through the middle stages. The first try at 1200m and rise to Open grade are the hurdles.
