Verdict

FLOP SHOT (6) gets the nod after just missing by that exact margin when launching home at the Sunny Coast last time. The rise to 1800m suits him perfectly third-up and he looms the one to beat. MADAME CODY (3) appeals as the main danger back from a CL2 at Doomben. The 3kg claim helps her settle into a suitable CL1 and the low draw should give her a good look. READY TO DRINK (10) has been leaving herself with too much to do but warming late. Stripping fitter fourth-up, if Osmond can settle he closer she can play a more significant role this time. ARGENTUM ROCK (2) is proven over the track and trip and his closing third in a CL2 here last week gives him a sound place platform despite being unwanted in betting. SEA WARNING (8) was much better last time when stretching to this tip and should be further improved.

Eased back from metro company after finishing seventh in a Doomben Class 2, beaten three and a half lengths by Toro Strike while racing keenly mid-race. She was only beaten just under five lengths in a BM65 at this track first-up, and now peaks third-up with a 3kg claim. Strong winning case in this grade.

Narrowly missed in a BM58 over 1600m at Sunshine Coast last start, finishing second to Kobability and beaten a head after moving into it strongly. That followed a sound fourth in a CG BM58 at Warwick when he began slowly and worked home well. Should be hitting his straps now and can get the job done.

    Verdict
Closed from well back for third in a Class 2 over 1000m at this track last week, beaten just over three lengths after being steadied leaving the 800m. He had been solid in a BM65 here two back and returns to a distance where he has one win and two placings from three starts at this venue. A genuine place hope if he runs up to that profile.

Went close in a BM58 at Gold Coast Poly last start, finishing second to Mr Bubbaluski and beaten just over half a length after being steadied near the 150m. That was a clear lift on his earlier seventh at this track, where he was easily accounted for late. Still has to back it up against deeper claims.

Had excuses when sixth in a BM60 over 2000m at Gold Coast Poly, beginning awkwardly and being hampered near the 700m, but he was still beaten over 10 lengths. The start prior was also plain when last at this track and unwanted in the market. Others look better placed.

    Verdict
Worked home late when fifth in a BM58 over 1540m at Gold Coast Poly last start, beaten just under three lengths after racing keenly through the middle stages. His previous run was a heavy defeat in Open grade at Toowoomba, so the class drop and first-time blinkers give him some assistance. The new 1800m task and top weight still leave him with plenty to prove against sharper recent form. Looking to others for the winner.

    Verdict
Placed in a small-field BM58 at this track last week, finishing third to Tambourine Man and beaten three and a half lengths after travelling well before weakening. The Gatton run prior was much weaker, beaten just over nine lengths after beginning awkwardly. A place chance, though the winning edge is still the query.

Ran a much better race at Sunshine Coast last start, finishing third in a BM60 and beaten just under a length at big odds after being slow away. She had also made late ground without threatening in a Class 2 there the run prior. More a place chance than a likely winner.

    Verdict
Faces harder company after finishing third in a BM55 at Tara, beaten seven and a half lengths in a small field when near the top of betting. His Eagle Farm run prior was a long last after jumping awkwardly and racing wide. Weight relief, an apprentice claim and first-time blinkers are positives, but his unplaced 1800m record and recent margins make him a risky proposition. Prefer others.

    Verdict
Broke through in a Mdn at this track last start, beating Five Of Us by just over two lengths on soft ground after picking up strongly despite a few manners notes. She had been narrowly beaten at Beaudesert before that, so the form is trending the right way. Harder now, but the local win gives her a base to build from.
