Verdict

DIRTY HARRY (8) is hard to look past after shedding the maiden tag here when resuming at the latest. He's lightly raced and keeps Thornton piloting. Can win again. EXTREME SPIRIT (4) made things tough for himself after blundering the start but picked up strongly in the lane to nab third. Strips fitter and if he can settle in the same postcode as them this time he can get the job done. KEMAL (12) was only beaten a neck as favourite at the Sunny Coast despite racing wide throughout. Peaking now and with even luck in-running he can be right there at the business end. DECADAD (1) had enough go wrong at Gold Coast Poly to be assessed more kindly. Will improve with that run out of the way and McColm's claim sets him up a treat at the weights. Can forgive. PEWTER PEARL (7) will find this a bit easier and gets a more senior hoop taking over. Should improve third-up.

    Verdict
Returns from a three-month spell with a Dalby trial win behind him, which is a useful readiness pointer for the new stable. He ended last campaign sixth at this track in a Class 1 at long odds, after a well-beaten Sunshine Coast run where market support was not justified. Last campaign ended plainly, but the 1000m record and rider booking keep him a place hope.

    Verdict
Broke through at this track and trip first-up, travelling well just off the lead before beating Texas by just under a length on soft ground in a Mdn. He rises to a deeper BM58 task and has a wider draw, but the track-and-trip win, wet-track record and unbeaten partnership with Boris Thornton make a strong case. Drawn sticky but has returned in good touch and can make it two on the bounce.

    Verdict
Resumed with a solid third at this track, beaten two and a half lengths by Zavega after blundering, and he was respected near the top of betting. His previous run in Class 1 company over 1400m was only moderate after beginning awkwardly and covering ground. Back at 1000m, he looks one of the main chances.

    Verdict
Had excuses when fifth in a Class 2 over 800m at Ipswich last week, racing wide around the home turn and finishing just over four lengths from Miss Mclaren. His Toowoomba fifth in BM65 grade two back was plain, but he is race fit, suited back around 1000m and handles wet ground. The short back-up is the query, but he can place.

    Verdict
Worked home from well back when fifth in a BM66 at Ballina, beaten just over five lengths after being slow to begin. That was country grade and she now faces a harder meeting, albeit with a 3kg claim to assist. Her overall place record is respectable, but she has not won often and the wide barrier asks her to produce a much sharper second-up run. Each-way chance.

Kept on for fourth in a BM66 at Ballina when resuming, beaten four and a half lengths in country grade, and now meets a harder meeting while dropping back from that grade. He has won at this distance, though one win from ten attempts around 1000m tempers the enthusiasm. Has to find a stronger finish.

Had excuses when sixth in a BM65 at Sunshine Coast on soft ground, beginning slowly and being held up before finishing four and a half lengths from Oohlalouvre. She had earlier tackled BM78 company at Ipswich over 800m and lacked a turn of foot. Wet-track record helps; winning edge is the remaining question.

    Verdict
Second-up on a quick back-up after a fifth at Gold Coast Poly, beaten four and a half lengths, where he jumped awkwardly, bumped, had an equipment issue and was hampered late. His Beaudesert second on soft ground before that reads better, and the 3kg claim helps offset the top weight. The 3kg claim helps, but 1000m still looks more place than win.

Was sound enough when fifth over 1200m at this track last start, beaten three and a half lengths at generous odds, and she now gets meaningful weight relief from that run. Her BM70 effort at Eagle Farm two back was poor despite some wide-running pressure. Best considered for the wider exotics.

Went very close at Sunshine Coast last start, finishing third and beaten a neck by Sapana's Pearl after being sent out favourite and racing wide throughout. His previous fifth there on soft ground was also close enough to rate, beaten just over two lengths. Race fit, proven at 1000m and right among the winning chances.

Was beaten over 10 lengths at this track last start after racing wide without cover, and her previous run here was another heavy defeat. Weight relief helps and she has a past win at this venue, while the distance record is better than the latest form suggests. Sharp improvement required.

Offered little when second last in a Class 1 at Doomben, beaten just under ten lengths at big odds, and there was no clear excuse. Today is an easier meeting than that mid-week assignment, but he rises in weight and his record around 1000m is poor, with no wins or placings from 12 attempts. Others are preferred.

    Verdict
Returns from a six-week freshening after being beaten over 12 lengths at this venue, though racing wide throughout gives some context to that poor run. He was also safely held at Gatton before that when big odds. Has won at 1000m, but recent form leaves him with a lot to prove.
